Avant Garde

This project was taking a concept making Avant Garde mixed media creations. I am mixed Mexican and take pride in the culture so I chose to do Día de los Muertos as my concept for this collection. The designs came from the ofrendas, marigolds, sugar skulls, and the paper banners hanging from the ceilings. The colors also came from the brightness of the holiday. The medium I chose was a magazine articles cut out in the shapes of bones and painted with watercolors, Tissues and gift tissue papers painted with watercolors, and a paper towel used to clean the watercolor off the brush used. the flats for the three garments were created to resemble the banners used.
